The Work

The national Adult Literacy for Life (ALL) Strategy recognises that it is partnerships at regional level which will drive success.  As part of the strategy, a Regional Literacy Coordinator was appointed to City of Dublin ETB to create an outreach, partnership-based role within the city, to develop greater links with local schools, community groups, initiatives and resource centres.  This partnership is known as the Regional Literacy Coalition.  The Regional Literacy Coordinator for City of Dublin is Andrew Connolly (andrew.connolly@aes.cdetb.ie).
The Coalition’s purpose is to collaborate in supporting adults across Dublin who have unmet literacy, numeracy, or digital literacy needs. One of the key ways the Coalition advances this mission is through the Collaboration and Innovation Fund (CIF). Created to support the goals of the ALL Strategy, the CIF provides funding for projects that address unmet adult literacy, numeracy, digital, family, or financial literacy needs, and for initiatives that help organisations become more literacy‑friendly. Examples of funded projects can be found in the Stories section of this website. More information about the Fund is available here: Adult Literacy for Life Collaboration and Innovation Fund
The Coalition also promotes the use of Plain English across public services, ensuring information is easy to understand and accessible to all. Additionally, it works to increase public awareness of unmet literacy needs and provides training in Literacy Awareness and Health Literacy. Further details on these courses can be found in the Courses section of this website.
